Moshe Krupnik

Born 1926

Born in Vilnius in 1926. Retired math teacher. Moshe speaks Russian because before the war he was deported from Lithuania to Siberia. From 1943 to 1947 he served as a radiotelegraph operator of an anti-aircraft artillery battalion, first in the Red Army, and since 1946 in the Soviet Army. He ended the war in Manchjuria, on the border of three countries - the USSR, China and Mongolia Was the lead singer in his artillery battalion.

She was born in Jerusalem. She visits the lessons together with her husband, a retired soldier. “I was the first woman on the top of Mount Hermon during Six-Day War. I wore white trousers, and in the helicopter Haim’s greasy hand was on my knee all the time. Don’t treat him bad, we were already married then”.

Eliyahu Petrushka

1915 - 2018

Eliyahu Petrushka was born in March 1915. He was fortunate to circumvent Polish Nazi collaborators in Warsaw even before the beginning of WWII. In 1939 Eliyahu escaped to Russia. All through the war he worked as a director of the orphanage for Polish children in the little town of Zagorsk outside of Moscow. After the war Eliyahu repatriated to Israel and became a renowned microbiologist.

Retiree, worked as a gas heating engineer in Kiev for many years. Last 30 some years resided in Brooklyn, being one of the most active volunteers at the Bensonhurst Community Cultural Center. Died in spring 2020 during the coronavirus pandemic. יהיה זכרו ברוך

Irit Nener donated figurines of two ceramic birds covered with silver to the museum. The crafts are now in perpetual storage with Svetlana Golovina in Germany.

Dvora was a soulmate of Shmuel Axelrod, they both were born in 1924, and since the age of seven lived in the same neighbourhood and studied in Chernivtsi at the same school.

Aldo Bar Natan

— There was a food ticket system in Israel back in the early fifties. What else could be done? There were all those jews after the Holocaust. We were struggling. There were just around 600 of us. There were tickets for bread, meat – for everything. I sucked on bread instead of chewing it, hoping that it will never end.

Pinhas (Paul) Haber

1923 - 2011

Pinhas (Paul) Haber was born in Austria. Pinhas spent his last years at an assisted living home in central Israel. He loved making art. When Haber died at the last moment possible the Museum managed, miraculously, to obtain the last copy of his memoirs, before the traces of his life would sink into oblivion.

Arie Fetman

93-year-old retiree from Hod Hasharon (Israel) Arie Fetman, who was born in Budapest in 1926. Arie and I are longtime friends, he has been attending wood-carving classes for several years. Arie asked us to say that he got the name "Arie" in Israel only in 1948. Before that, he called George. In the photo you see George- Arie back in 1948, when he was 22 years old. Although in the German concentration camp George Fetman remained George, in Israel he became Arie. Mostly, Arie Fetman finds inspiration in the works of Sandro Botticelli (real name Alessandro di Mariano di Vanni Filipepi; March 1, 1445 - May 17, 1510), an Italian artist, one of the significant masters of the Renaissance, a member of the Florentine school of painting.

Dr. Amos Nir

1924 - 2014

Dr. Nir painted and carved wood at home on his own almost to the end in 2014. His widow has more than 100 works left, which she wants to donate to our Museum. The only thing is very important for her to know who will keep her husband's works, and we promised her that. Some of his works are already on display in Moscow, Berlin, Toronto, Brussels.
