Oil on canvas glued to cardboard, 280x432 mm

We found the painting, which was in a rather dilapidated condition, in a warehouse full of old, abandoned things that had lost their owners. The painting is a portrait of an old Jew. The author's signature is painted in the upper right corner, in black. You can make out two letters: "De ...", then the inscription becomes illegible.

The reverse side material is deformed and largely contaminated. The picture was previously inserted into a frame, there are traces of fasteners at the edges, traces of glue in the center and all over the surface. The canvas has separated from the cardboard base at the edges, mostly in the upper right corner when viewed from the base side. There are traces of a glued and then torn off label at the bottom left.
